If you’re looking to maximize your Capital One miles, transferring them to an airline partner can be a great way to book flights for less. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you navigate the process smoothly.
Step 1: Check Your Capital One Account
Before transferring miles, log in to your Capital One account, you’ll see this:
Click “View Rewards” Capital One has a variety of partners, including popular airlines like Air Canada, Emirates, and British Airways.
Step 2: Choose How to Use Your Miles
After you click “View Rewards” you’ll see this:
Click “Transfer Rewards”
Step 3: Choose the airline or hotel
This is where you will see the list of airline and hotel partners, find the one you’re looking to transfer and click “Transfer Miles”.
You’ll need your airline or account number, so have that handy. This number is found after “signing up” for the loyalty account (free to do so).
Step 4: Initiate the Transfer
Next, you will see:
In this example, I choose to transfer to FlyingBlue. Enter the number of miles you wish to transfer, and confirm the transaction. Keep in mind that transfers can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few days, depending on the airline.
Step 5: Book Your Flight
After the transfer is complete, log in to your airline account to check your new miles balance, in this case my FlyingBlue account. Once you see the miles reflected, you can pick the flight you want and book directly on the airline website using miles.
Pro tip-> Always find the flight/hotel nights BEFORE transferring points. Once you transfer points from your bank out to the airline/hotel, you can NOT transfer them back.
